Why this role matters
A Technical Accounting Manager is a senior accounting specialist responsible for interpreting and applying complex financial reporting standards across the organisation. The role acts as a key advisor to finance leadership, supports statutory and group reporting, and ensures that accounting treatments are compliant, consistent, and properly documented.
In this role you will:
Technical Expertise & Accounting Judgements
Assess complex, non‑routine, or judgement‑based transactions (e.g., acquisitions, disposals, revenue recognition issues, lease arrangements, financial instruments, impairments).
Prepare high‑quality technical accounting papers outlining analysis, conclusions, and supporting references.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, or other applicable frameworks.
Financial Reporting Support
Provide technical guidance during month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
Review and challenge accounting treatments, journal entries, and disclosures.
Lead the development and maintenance of accounting manuals, group policies, and reporting guidelines.
Audit & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary contact for external auditors on technical accounting matters.
Coordinate audit deliverables and support the resolution of audit queries.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure technical accuracy in financial outputs.
Governance, Controls & Policy Framework
Implement and oversee strong accounting governance across the group.
Ensure consistent policy application across entities and business units.
Deliver training sessions or workshops on accounting standards and policy updates.
Job requirements
To be successful in the role you will bring:
You hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
You are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ITAA or equivalent)
Strong technical expertise of IFRS - deep understanding of IFRS and ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards
7–10+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, or audit
Experience in a multinational or group reporting environment
Solid knowledge of statutory and group reporting requirements
Proven track record of assessing complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., acquisitions, disposals, revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, impairments)
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess financial impact and accounting implications
Ability to manage multiple complex topics simultaneously
