Why this role matters
At JERA Nex bp safety is more than a business priority; it is a core value and mindset; nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and security of our workforce and the communities where we work. The purpose of this role is to support safe, compliant and efficient operations across four operational offshore wind farms in Belgium, by providing visible field support, expert HSSE advice, independent challenge and practical assurance to operational leaders, OEMs and contractors.
In this role you will:
Act as an HSSE advisor to the O&M leadership team in Ostend, providing visible field support, independent challenge and expert guidance to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations.
Support delivery of the O&M HSSE plan, proactively influencing OEM, marine and other contractor HSSE plans to ensure priorities, controls and improvement actions are aligned.
Lead the development, delivery and follow-up of HSSE improvement plans, engaging operational leaders, supervisors, contractors and the wider HSSE team as required.

Verify the implementation and effectiveness of critical controls associated with fatality and serious injury risks, including working at height, lifting operations, electrical safety, marine transfers, vessel operations and contractor activities.
Provide HSSE oversight and assurance of OEMs, marine contractors and service providers, including participation in contractor reviews, inspections, audits and performance improvement activities.
Maintain a strong understanding of the HSSE risk profile across the O&M assets, escalating or intervening where risk levels, control effectiveness or performance trends require action.
Coach leaders and supervisors in safety leadership, operational discipline, learning from events, effective risk management and creating a strong speak-up culture.
Plan and participate in regular offshore and onshore site visits to test the effectiveness of safety programmes, engage with frontline teams and verify that controls are working in practice.
Support a learning culture by ensuring incidents, near misses and high-potential events are reported, investigated and translated into effective learning and corrective actions.
Monitor, analyse and report leading and lagging HSSE metrics in line with company standards, regulatory requirements and operational performance routines.
Support emergency response preparedness through scenario planning, drills, exercises, training and follow-up of actions arising from exercises or real events.
Support environmental compliance and environmental risk management, including pollution prevention, waste management, permit compliance and environmental incident investigation.
Support identification and management of major hazard and operational integrity risks, including electrical systems, offshore access, marine operations and emergency response capability.
Support Control of Work by advising on minimum requirements, risk assessment quality, control selection, mitigation measures and task verification.

Strong influencing and coaching skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge operational leaders, supervisors and contractors.
Ability to work independently across multiple assets, prioritise risk-based activity and communicate clearly with frontline teams and senior stakeholders.
