Job description
Join us as we work to unlock the value of offshore wind! JERA Nex bp is a new joint venture between JERA, Japan’s largest power generation company, and bp, one of the world’s leading energy companies. Established to unlock the potential of offshore wind across the globe, our talented team, exciting pipeline and solid capital commitment give us the potential to become one of the world’s most successful offshore wind companies.
We entered the market with a portfolio of operational and development assets, alongside the resources, capabilities and resilience to deliver offshore wind energy at scale.
Why this role matters
The Commercial and Finance Manager is a project-facing role that strengthens commercial and financial decision-making across JNBP’s Taiwan offshore wind portfolio. Through secondment to Taiwan projects, the role provides project-level commercial, financial and governance support, while also contributing at the JNBP Taiwan level to asset integrity and value-optimisation initiatives.
The position acts as a key interface between JNBP Taiwan and ProjectCo (F1 / F2), ensuring strong financial discipline, governance compliance and value-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Director, Taiwan OSW, the role works closely with the project management team during secondment, while maintaining reporting accountability to JNBP Taiwan, and collaborates with JNBP Taiwan’s O&M, Communications and Stakeholder teams.
In this role you will:
Project Commercial & Financial Decision Support (when seconded to project)
· Support Taiwan ProjectCo on commercial and financial analysis, budget review, cost control, variance analysis, and the commercial evaluation of contracts, claims and variations.
· Maintain project financial models, OPEX budgeting, distribution planning, claims evaluation and other key strategic decisions, providing strong financial rationale to Taiwan ProjectCo and JNBP management.
· Act as a commercial and finance business partner to the Taiwan ProjectCo management team, supporting commercial strategy, contractor positioning, claims management and other key business decisions.
Taiwan Portfolio Value Support & Stakeholder Coordination
· Work closely with the JNBP Taiwan local O&M team to identify and unlock value enhancement opportunities across the Taiwan offshore wind portfolio, ensuring asset integrity considerations are reflected in commercial and financial decisions.
· Translate operational performance data into commercial and financial impact (e.g. availability versus revenue, curtailment versus financial loss), and develop simple, repeatable linkages to support better business decisions.
· Contribute to cross-project consistency, knowledge sharing and benchmarking between F1 and F2, supporting the broader JNBP Taiwan team in lifting overall portfolio value.
· Maintain a clear interface with the JNBP Taiwan Communications and Stakeholder Relationship team — any matter requiring engagement with government, regulators or other external public stakeholders is escalated to and progressed by the Comms / Stakeholder team, with this role providing the underlying commercial and financial input as needed.
· Maintain the project commercial and financial risk register, escalating material issues to ProjectCo management and JNBP Taiwan in a timely manner.
O&M Readiness & Future Value Optimisation
· Support the JNBP Taiwan OSW team in implementing the JNBP O&M Readiness strategy, helping to operationalise action plans that maximise asset value over the lifecycle, including cost optimisation and performance improvement initiatives.
· Support preparation for future O&M transitions (including WTG O&M strategy, O&M insourcing and OEM service optimisation) from a commercial and financial perspective, ensuring decisions today are aligned with the long-term value plan for the Taiwan portfolio.
Job requirements
To be successful in the role you will bring:
· A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
· 5–10+ years of relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure, energy or offshore wind — including roles in commercial-finance, transaction services, or corporate finance within an asset-heavy environment.
· Strong financial modelling skills are essential, with practical experience using models to support real commercial decisions (refinancing, distributions, contract evaluation, scenario and sensitivity analysis).
· Proven ability to coordinate across functions and organisations in a complex international environment.
· Strong problem-solving capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, structure issues, and drive resolution in a pragmatic and outcome-oriented manner.
· A technical and data-driven mindset to analyse operational performance and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
· Fluency in English required; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred.
· Willingness and flexibility to travel occasionally.
